The club was founded in 1956 and, ever since, has run events for car enthusiasts who enjoy the challenge of testing their driving skills in an amicably competitive yet safe environment.

RSCC hosts local autocrosses throughout the year. Autocrosses, are the purest and safest form of competitive driving. They are run on wide, open courses -- usually at Orvil Wilson Park, in Fairhaven. Courses are designed and are setup differently for every autocross using chalk and cone markers. Only one car is on course at one time. Drivers are timed as they negotiate the course to the best of their cars' and their own abilities. Speeds are low and wear on the cars is minimal.

Besides providing fun and the excitement of quick controlled driving, autocross teaches precision, cornering, braking, acceleration, distance judgment and other driving skills that make autocrossers safer and more responsible drivers on public roads.

Drivers School

Our anual drivers school nd autocross are coming up fast. This event will be held on April 18th and 19th and space is limited. So if you or anyone you know has been looking forward to spending time with your car pushing it to it's limits in a controlled environment learnign just how far it will go maybe now is the time. We will help you understand the pricipals of car control when it is at it's limits. You get to experience many things about your car that you may never get to just by driving it on the street. All of this is done in a controlled environment and under strict supervision with experienced instructors to help you understand what you need to know. All of this knowladgewill make the driver be more confortable behind the wheel and a better and safer driver. These experiences could make the difference in your ability to handle your car in those everyday drives to and from work when the unexpected may occure. There is nothing more satifying than knowing what your car is capable of and how to control it when something out of the ordinary happens. We all feel safer on the roads when we are comfortable behind the wheel and these leasons learned can be invaluable.

March events a success...

Another weekend has come and went. The weather always seems to play a major role in how much fun we are going to have but it seems that no matter how bad things are a good time is, well
usually had by all. The rain held off for Saturday and even the wind kept itself at bay for most of the day. Lunch was good as normal with Pete Day and his wife Shelly doing a great job and making homemade spaghetti, salad and french bread. and yes it was an excellent change.

Sunday was a much different story... The weather started out poor at best, raining and cold. We were thinking that we were going to call it a day before the event even got started but then everyone started showing up so we were going to have a hard time turning everyone away. The decision was made to go ahead and run the event as initially planned. We were able to make do with a limited number of workers and thanks is sometimes never really enough especially for those who brave the rain and cold. An extra special thanks goes out to Tina and Jenna taking care of the start finish line and Melanie for filling in where needed, and they did it all day and they didn't even race at the event.
(Thank you ladies)

Saturday's top time was taken by Tom McDaniel coming down from Oregon and easily taking home the honors. The weather made a much different picture for Sunday and Mike Shapiro took home the top time with Pete Day and Oliver Taylor pushing him throughout the day. The large puddles made for an exciting drive and it looked cool for the spectators.

You have to do what you must to keep warm!

Hoopa Update...

Once again it's time to start planning for your race season ahead. For all of us one of our favorite events is the Hoopa Hillclimb, and we all know how much fun that is. It's only about 5 months till that special weekend and you may want to start making plans and reservations, we have reserved the hotel for that weekend and there are already a few rooms reserved so it may be time to get yours while the gettins good. All the rooms have been remodeled and most include microwaves and refrigerators.

We still have to get approval from the Tribal Council and that won't happen till a bit later in the year but Tina made a trip to Hoopa recently and drove up the hill and there was still no work being done on the section that we race on. As long as the hill is raceable we are hoping to once again be able to have a successful event. Keep an eye out here for any new information. We'll make it available as soon as anything new comes up.

Hope to see you all there

HoopA Hillclimb is penciled in for July 18th & 19th. Keep in mind that we have to get approval from the tribal council in April, then everything will depend on the water project they are working on. It shouldn't be a problem as long as we don't get in the way or they haven't got the road torn up. We will keep you informed the closer we get.
